How to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category

When you want to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category, best practice is to mark it with {{SD|C2}} if it would be OK to re-create it in the future, given that appropriate content becomes available or {{SD|C1}} if it is an inappropriate category name that should not be reused. In particular, this is better practice than just blanking the category page, as you did at Category:Flora of Category:Stellenbosch University Botanical Garden. ("C1" and "C2" come from Commons:Criteria for speedy deletion). I happen to have stumbled on this 7 weeks later; if it had been tagged correctly, it would have been deleted in a few days. - Jmabel ! talk 20:08, 16 June 2024 (UTC)

For the Kruger Park I have assigned location categories according to the nearest camp, and Biyamiti (besides the river by that name), appears to be the nearest based on the supplied coordinate. I agree that this way of categorization is not precise, and is not ideal if you want to be precise. It does, inter alia, facilitate the sorting of the photos into the relevant province of South Africa, Mpumalanga or Limpopo in this case, and gives a general idea of location. If filed under Biyamiti it implies that the location is in Mpumalanga, and south of the Sabie River, and inside the Kruger Park for instance. It assists in reducing overpopulated categories. There are no districts to subdivide this national park which is the size of Switzerland (other than Ehlanzeni and Mopani), otherwise I would have used them. To keep categories manageable I have used the nearest camp so far. I value your contributions to the wikimedia project very highly. If you don't enjoy me working on your photos, I could pass them by. Hi JMK - unfortunate that you created these new categories, just a few months before an expected name change! African populations of Butorides striata (currently subspecies B. s. atricapilla) are highly likely to be split as Butorides atricapilla in the next version of IOC (15.1).
